Tours of Members' Gardens

Field Trips

The SBGC sponsors several trips each year to flower shows, specialized nurseries, and chartered bus trips to gardens of interest.

Plant Sale

The SBGC sponsors a spring plant sale each year. Here we offer hardy perennials at a reasonable price to the community. The plant sale is held at the Saco Museum.

Garden Tours

Most every other summer the SBGC sponsors a garden tour featuring several local gardens. The gardens range from in-town cottage gardens to larger properties displaying a range of horticultural effects that will surprise and inspire you. At each garden, the homeowner or garden club member is on hand to answer questions. Every garden, big or small is a work of art featuring the passions of the gardener. We cordially invite you to come see what's growing in your neighborhood! The SBGC is always on the lookout for new gardens to feature on upcoming tours...

Community Work

The SBGC donated proceeds from our last tour to Dyer Library in Saco and purchased a large collection of gardening reference books for the public to enjoy. We also matched that donation to McArthur Library in Biddeford with proceeds from our last plant sale. We focus our charitable contributions and volunteer work on both communities' libraries and have implemented a landscape maintenance program at Dyer Library. Club members volunteer their time to maintain the grounds and tend to the new rose garden at the Saco Museum and have recently taken on the upkeep of the landscaping at the train station in Saco.
